Flexible chain cables are subjected to repeated bending and friction for a long time. Regular inspection and maintenance can detect signs of damage as early as possible and avoid sudden disconnection causing work stoppage.

When inspecting, first look at the cable sheath. Check if the outer skin is worn, scratched, cracked, bulged, or adhered. If the outer skin is severely worn and the insulation layer inside is exposed, continuing to use can easily lead to short circuits. Also pay attention to the inside of the drag chain, there should be no sharp burrs or scratches on the cable.

Check the internal space of the drag chain. The cable should not be too full in the drag chain, and a small amount of movement allowance should be reserved. If it is too tight, the cable will be continuously compressed during equipment movement, accelerating aging. Pay attention to the cable layout at the same time, and do not wrap or twist the cables around each other, as wrapping will significantly increase the bending burden.

The position of the wiring terminals should also be checked regularly. Repeated vibrations can easily cause loose terminals and poor contact. If oxidation or looseness of the terminal is found, it should be dealt with in a timely manner. If the device occasionally experiences signal loss or power interruption, priority should be given to checking the cables in the drag chain area, which is a high-risk location for faults.

Do not forcefully pull or tug on the cable during maintenance. If the cable is found to be aged or damaged, do not force it to continue using it and replace it in a timely manner. Conducting daily inspections and promptly addressing minor issues can extend the lifespan of flexible chain cables and ensure the continuous and stable operation of automation equipment.
